LONDON (AP) – King Charles III attended church on Sunday for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer.
Walking alongside Queen Camilla, Prince Charles arrived at St Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham House in eastern England, where he retired to recuperate after initial treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.
The appearance came a day after he expressed his gratitude for the messages of support he received from the public. In a statement released late Saturday, the monarch said such thoughts were “the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
“Hearing how sharing my own diagnosis has helped to foster public understanding and shine a light on the work of all the organizations supporting cancer patients and their families in the UK and wider world. is equally encouraging,” he said in a statement.
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication has grown even more as a result of my own personal experience.”
