49ers pull out trickery for incredible first touchdown of Super Bowl LVIII

The San Francisco 49ers pulled a rabbit out of a hat with the first touchdown of Super Bowl V.

From Kansas City’s own 21-yard line, Brock Purdy threw a backwards pass to Jauan Jennings, who immediately turned downfield.

Nothing was open deep, but Jennings somehow found Christian McCaffrey on the other side of the field, albeit behind the line of scrimmage, but that was all Jennings had to do. .

McCaffrey had a lot of blocks in front of him and went on to score a touchdown, and the ensuing PAT gave San Fran a 10-0 lead.

This was the 49ers’ version of the Philly Special that the Eagles ran in Super Bowl LII. Against the New England Patriots, running back Corey Clement took a snap and bounced it back to tight end Trey Burton, who found quarterback Nick Foles in the end zone.

San Francisco took the lead early in the second game with Jake Moody’s Super Bowl record 55-yard field goal.

But this is not unfamiliar territory for Mahomes. He has scored in double digits in every Super Bowl he has played in.

The Niners are aiming to win their first Super Bowl in 29 years, and the Chiefs are aiming for their third championship in five years.
