Police obtained a search warrant to search the apartment of David Schroitman, 27, in Somerville, New Jersey. Schroitman is accused of stabbing 27-year-old Maryrose Feeley 37 times outside his home on January 30.
Last week, Schroitman was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree hindering apprehension in connection with Feeley’s death, and fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.
A motive in the incident has not been determined, but authorities confirmed that Schreutman and Feeley had known each other since high school. The two graduated from Somerville High School in 2014. Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Gerald Tyrrell said in court there was no evidence the two were romantically involved, the report said. push.
Eight days before her death, Feely posted an ominous message on Facebook: “Yesterday is gone, today is the day, tomorrow is a mystery.”
Authorities responded to a 911 call from one of Feely’s relatives who said the victim’s passenger door was left open and his belongings were scattered in the front yard. Relatives found the victim with multiple stab wounds.
According to Fox News Digital, around the same time police received the 911 call, local surveillance spotted a man wearing a gray sweatshirt standing at an intersection near Feeley’s home. It was captured on camera footage.
Schreutman was soon identified as a potential suspect “by word of mouth,” the affidavit said. He refused to speak to detectives on Feb. 2 in Bridgewater. Investigators became increasingly interested in Schreutmann after a business owner reported a suspicious person.
“Officers encountered Schreutman while cleaning the vehicle while wearing clear latex gloves,” according to the affidavit. “Officers smelled bleach coming from a puddle of water near the driver’s side door of the Camry.”
Deputy Public Defender Emma Pararino, who is representing Schreutman, said the suspect has no criminal history. She went on to say that he had family in New Jersey and graduated with honors from Rutgers Business School.
However, Pararino also said that Schreutmann has “significant mental health issues” and suffers from frequent migraines.
Mr. Schreutmann is being held without bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 26th.
