Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said Tuesday she believes it is in the best interest of the country and the Democratic Party for President Biden to step down.
In an interview on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” Haley said she agreed with the host who wrote an op-ed published on Fox News Tuesday calling for Biden to resign.
Asked if she thought Biden should resign, Haley said, “Yes, I do.” “I think Democrats know that too. And I think it’s just not in the best interest of their party. It’s in the best interest of the country.”
Haley went on to attack former Presidents Trump and Biden, the front-runners for the 2024 Republican and Democratic nominations.
“As I’ve said from the beginning, the party that eliminates 80-year-old candidates will be the winning party. In a world where fires continue, the country is in turmoil, and we have two presidential candidates who are in their 80s. “We can’t afford that. We need someone who will spend eight years focusing on keeping us disciplined, securing our economy and borders, and preventing war. And getting our country back on track.” Haley said.
The remarks came after special counsel Robert Hur released a report examining Biden’s handling of classified documents, stating that Biden does not remember his years as vice president and that He called him a “senior citizen” and said it touched on the president’s biggest political vulnerability ahead of the 2024 election. .
Democratic senators who have spent time with Biden recently say he remains mentally alert and do not notice any decline in his cognitive abilities, but they fear the report could damage his re-election bid. Some people do.
