Joe Biden finally heads to East Palestine.
He plans to visit there more than a year after the derailment occurred.

President Biden will visit East Palestine on February 16, more than a year after the derailment of a Norfolk Southern train carrying toxic chemicals near the town.
“[T]The President will travel to East Palestine, Ohio, to hold Norfolk South accountable and discuss how his administration will continue to work with state and local officials to help move Norfolk South communities forward.” the White House said in an advisory Saturday.

The president did not visit the Buckeye State town while former President Trump, his main rival in the 2024 presidential race, visited East Palestine last February to deliver supplies and provide support to the community. This has led to criticism from Republicans.
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) recently cited concerns about the situation from constituents in the area.
“Biden should have been there a long time ago,” Donald Trump responded on Truth Social.
It was a great honor to be with the people of East Palestine in the immediate aftermath of this tragic event. I got to know so many people, especially the wonderful Mayor Trent Conaway. Biden should have gone there a long time ago – for him to go now is an insult to the people who live and work in East Palestine, and to the state of Ohio itself. I can’t believe anyone would want to put him there? I know he doesn’t want to be there, and he knows he’s making a mistake. Because he is pandering to people who are smart, politically savvy, and who are unfortunately being deeply hurt by Biden’s inaction and lack of compassion. It will be very interesting to see how they meet and greet this con artist and the thugs that surround him!
