Cartel Gunmen Used Landmines Against Mexican Army

Mexican cartel gunmen continue to become increasingly bold in the tactics and weapons they use to attack Mexican military and security forces. This increase in violence comes as drug cartels begin designing and manufacturing their own explosive devices.

Recently, an armed group believed to be affiliated with Carteles Unidos attacked a Mexican military armored vehicle with a landmine, killing two soldiers and injuring several others. Mexican government officials tried to cover up the incident, but were eventually forced to admit it as videos and photos of the incident began to leak.

Video obtained by Breitbart Texas shows the device went off as the military convoy moved along a road near the town of Jipoco in rural Jalisco state, not far from the border with Michoacán state. The moment became clear. The troops were heading to the town of Los Reyes in Michoacán state, where they targeted a cartel boss known as Guicho de los Reyes, the regional commander of Cartel Unidos.

In the aftermath of the attack, the Mexican military was forced to admit that two soldiers were killed in the attack and several others were injured.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the Mexican military has discovered several secret explosives production facilities in Michoacán state in recent weeks. These facilities are used by either Carteles Unidos or Cartel Jalisco to manufacture grenades, mortar shells, IEDs, land mines, and other explosives.
