Some Republican lawmakers have criticized House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) for publicly warning about the Russian threat, warning Congress that the multibillion-dollar Ukraine They claim it is a politically-driven ploy to get the aid bill passed. Intrusion surveillance bill.
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) called for an investigation into Turner in a letter Thursday to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). report Punchbowl accused him of “reckless disregard for the impact and consequences the information would have on geopolitics, domestic and international markets, or the well-being and psyche of the American people.”
he wrote:
In retrospect, the goal was not to ensure the safety of the homeland and the American people, but rather to secure additional funding for Ukraine and the passage of an unreformed Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). It became clear.
“This action constitutes, at the very least, a misjudgment and, at the most, a complete breach of trust influenced by the pursuit of a political agenda,” he wrote.
Mr Ogles also raised the possibility of Mr Turner being removed as chairman, writing:[S]If you remain in office, you have a duty to reassure this agency and the American people that the Intelligence Committee process is not corrupted by the very agency you are tasked with overseeing. There is an obligation. ”
On Wednesday afternoon, Turner, a supporter of support for Ukraine, issued a vague statement about a “grave national security threat,” raising public concerns and calling on President Joe Biden to “do everything related to this threat.” The government and our allies can openly discuss the actions needed to respond to this threat. ”
Just in. @RepMikeTurner Rep. Mike Turner, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, issued this statement, warning that the committee recognizes the serious national security threat facing the United States.

Turner also fueled a media frenzy by making information available to all members of Congress in a space in the Capitol building known as the SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility). Reporters often gather just outside the space in hopes of catching members who have left SCIF and soliciting comments related to what they just saw.
Just hours later, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan appeared at a White House press conference to urge the House of Representatives to pass $61 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Sullivan said he personally contacted Turner and other members of the Gang of Eight earlier this week about the alleged threats that Turner later made public, but said he was surprised Turner did so. he claimed.
The group of eight includes Republican and Democratic leaders of the House and Senate, as well as Republican and Democratic leaders of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.
Sullivan said he was “a little surprised” that Turner went public because a briefing for those members was scheduled for Thursday. “It’s his choice whether to do so or not,” he said.
Sullivan said it was “highly unusual” for a national security adviser to personally contact the group of eight, but that he did so to set up a meeting.
US officials Said President Joe Biden specifically asked Sullivan to contact Turner and the Gang of Eight, ABC News reported.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who is adamantly opposed to sending more U.S. taxpayer aid to Ukraine on top of the $113 billion already spent, called Turner “unbelievable.” “It’s incredibly irresponsible.”
“The game you’re watching is not the game that’s actually being played. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner gaslighted the country by claiming this national security threat. I think that was incredibly irresponsible,” he said on his show “Firebrand.”
“I can’t discuss the country or the issues, but what I can say is this: I read Intelligence today. “What we have been briefed on over the years has not been markedly different from other similar types of intelligence analysis that we have received. During my seven years on the House Armed Services Committee,” he said. He said and added:
So the question really arises, why? Why was the gas slit installed? Why was there such a loud and sweeping claim that some kind of harm was imminent to the American people? As you can see in the House, we are working to stop nearly $100 billion in deficit spending. I’m here. And we know that that deficit spending does not make the world any safer, and that financing Ukraine and all kinds of provocations around it may actually make the world significantly less secure. I’m concerned.
And…conservatives came together to repeal this bad bill. And right after that, Mike Turner says, oh, this is a huge national security threat. And, look, they try to use this facade of threat to justify spying on you, using your money to jack up prices and cause inflation.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who was also a member of SCIF, said the real national security threat was that Biden was a “sufferer of dementia” and that “the U.S. “More than 10 million people illegally cross the country’s borders.” The number of terrorists is unknown and the country is $34 trillion in debt, much of which is owned by China.
She added:
Perhaps the biggest threat is that the federal government has become so powerful over the people that it can pressure Congress into certain votes, spy on the people, and report “information” to maintain power and protect the federal government. I’ll probably leak it to the authorities. Their own job security, and most frightening of all, being weaponized to crush their political opponents.
Mr. Green concluded: “Everything I say does not come from SCIF. As you already know, I am asking for your help in stopping our greatest national security threat: the threat from within. I am relying on you.”
Are we facing a national security threat?
It is my duty to be honest.
yes. It’s real.
Today I went to the SCIF information session.
Our president is a dementia patient, in charge of our country and nuclear football, which has torn our borders apart over 10 million people…

Does anyone seriously believe there is a serious Russian threat that magically leaks out about 30 seconds after the Chairman says he won’t give another $60 billion to Ukraine?
Is anyone stupid enough to buy this at this point? A textbook of deep state propaganda!

The Senate passed a $95 billion bill last weekend that would spend $61 billion on Ukraine, but House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) said he has no plans to introduce it to the House anytime soon.
Mr Sullivan argued that a majority of members of the House of Commons supported sending aid to Ukraine and urged Mr Johnson to do so.
