CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin spoke Thursday on “Anderson Cooper 360” as he discussed today’s hearing in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, including Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis. Prosecutor Nathan Wade said it didn’t matter whether they had an affair or not.
Toobin said, “So what if they were in this relationship?”
He continued, “Why would something like this prejudice Donald Trump or these defendants? I mean, that’s what’s so puzzling about this whole thing. That they’re in this relationship. Suppose they lied. Why would that disqualify them in this case?”
He added: “I have no bias against Donald Trump.”
Toobin concluded: “I think she was a good witness. I mean, I think if that’s what she was actually on the stand for, I thought that would defeat the case against her. You know,” Some people may simply not believe that some people don’t have that much cash, but some do. Other than that, I think she’s a good witness. Problem The thing is, if you ask the people of Atlanta who are on the jury here about Fani Willis, they know far more about this than they know about the details of the case.”
