Prosecutors on Friday dropped domestic violence charges against Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic.
His wife of 35 years, Brittany, claimed marital privilege and refused to testify against him. According to the Boston Globe.
Lucic had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery on a family member following an altercation at a North End condominium on Nov. 18, 2023.
“Milan is very happy,” Lucic’s attorney Gary G. Pelletier said after leaving Boston Municipal Court Friday morning. “He’s looking forward to getting his life back on track and getting his career back on track.”
During the Nov. 18 incident, a 911 caller claimed the NHL veteran “tried to strangle me tonight…he literally held me by the throat.”
According to a police report, Brittany Rusic met with officers in the lobby of her apartment complex and told them that Winger had come home and “believed that she had hidden her cell phone and began yelling and demanding her phone back.” , it is also written that “his face turned red”. She on her neck.
When she walked away from him, he “grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back,” police wrote. “At that time, she stated that her suspect told her he was not going anywhere.”
Mr. Peltier argued that the operator never confirmed that the 911 caller was Brittany Lucich, and Judge Paul M. Trezeller ruled that prosecutors cannot rely on the call in lieu of her testimony. As a result, the basis for the lawsuit was further weakened.

Lucic has been on indefinite leave from the Bruins since his arrest.
The 6-foot-3 bruiser reunited with the team that drafted him in 2006 this offseason on a one-year deal.
He originally played in Boston from 2007 to 2015, then was traded to the Los Angeles Kings and played for the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames before returning to Boston as a free agent.
He had two assists in four games before going on vacation.
