Two teenage students have died at New York University just two days apart, police said.
Last Thursday, 19-year-old student Jacqueline Beaugill was found unconscious and unresponsive in Lipton Hall, where freshmen are usually held, police said.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the Hempstead, New York teen dead at the scene.
Two days later, police said the body of 18-year-old student Drea Sarti was found outside the school’s Barney Building on Stuyvesant Street, where the art department is located.
Police said Sarti, of Hinsdale, Illinois, was found unconscious at around 7:30 p.m. with severe injuries that appeared to have been caused by a jump or fall.
She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sources close to Sarti’s family disputed speculation that she committed suicide pending an investigation by the city medical examiner, saying they believed her death was an accident. Ta.
Nevertheless, the spate of deaths has left students reeling, many of whom are concerned about the lack of quality mental health services in schools. Annual tuition and board costs over $84,000.
“We have mental health accommodations here, but it’s almost like winning the lottery,” Chelsea Lowry, a 22-year-old junior, told the Post, adding that she is unable to access the school’s counseling services. is understaffed and mental health chat apps are rampant, he added. There is a problem.

Others questioned why NYU leadership was dragging its feet to alert the campus community about Salty’s death.

“The death of a young man is a source of sadness for the NYU community,” said university spokesman John Beckman, adding that a coroner’s investigation is pending.
