Reaction of Sanctuary Cities Shows Immigration Isn’t Good for U.S. with Current System

On HBO’s “Real Time” broadcast Friday, host Bill Maher said that under the current system, immigration is not good for the United States, and that sanctuary cities’ reactions to busing immigrants show that. He said it shows.

Maher began by saying that “some immigrants” are “the lifeblood of this country.”

Later in the segment, CNN senior political commentator and former Obama aide Van Jones said: That’s good for America.”

Maher replied, “That’s not the way we do it.”

He further added, “And I imagine it would also allow the hypocrisy in the sanctuary cities to be exposed there. Because when they start sending immigrants to those cities…the most liberal Some people were like, oh, this is not going to work for us.”

Jones responded that the current system needs to be fixed, saying, “People are coming here and gaming our system. It’s true. It’s like finding a way to fix it and all of a sudden the subway is full of people who didn’t pay the fare. That’s what’s happening at the border, people are jumping through the turnstiles. We need to.” He also acknowledged that sanctuary cities don’t want to send migrants.

Afterwards, Mr. Maher, as well as other major issues, [are] winners and losers. Indeed, those just above immigrants on the economic scale always fare worse when immigrants enter this country. ”

He concluded, “Most of the people who come here are the most ambitious people.”
