Australian Olympic equestrian Shane Rose, a three-time Olympic team medalist, recently found himself struggling with his attire for one event.

Rose faced an investigation by the Australian Equestrian Association after she wore a mankini, a gorilla costume and a Simpsons-inspired outfit to a show jumping competition near Sydney, the Telegraph reported. A video posted on social media showed Rose wearing a Borat-inspired outfit, which raised her eyebrows.

Rose initially apologized for her outfit in a message to her social media followers, but deleted the post and told The Sydney Morning Herald she hoped people would laugh it off.

“With a little luck, within a few days this will all be a bit of a laughing stock and we can all move on,” he told the outlet on Sunday. “I dressed up in costumes that you would see at a theme park or at the beach. Maybe no one has ever done that before.” [a] It’s a horse, but that’s about it.

“I think I’m a good person and I do a lot for the sport and for people in different situations. I don’t think I’ve done anything particularly bad. In retrospect, I should have reconsidered what I had done, but at the time I thought it was just for fun.”

Rose was initially removed from the competition pending an ongoing investigation.

On Monday, Equestrian Australia determined that Rose “did not breach its code of conduct” at the event.

“Equestrian Australia has a duty to investigate concerns of this nature raised by the community,” CEO Darren Gotcher said in a news release. “Following a thorough investigation into this incident and discussions with those involved, Equestrian Australia can confirm that there was no breach of the Code of Conduct by Shane Rose.

“We accept the recommendations and will act quickly to ensure relevant measures are taken.”

Gotcher said Rose apologized for the incident and “understands that high standards are expected of everyone involved in our high performance program.”

“Now that the matter has been resolved, Shane and his teammates look forward to continuing to focus on qualifying for Paris,” Gotcher added.
