First of all, I believe Xander Schauffele is one of the best golfers on the planet. That’s not just based on his official World Golf Rankings, but also from watching him play throughout his professional career.
But if I’m being honest with myself, I can’t help but think that maybe he’s having a hard time when the light is the brightest.
Schauffele competed in the final round of the Genesis Invitational on Sunday in the final pairing with close friend Patrick Cantlay. But by the end of the few days, both players were taking a backseat as they approached his 15th tee box.
After the tee shot, he walked past me and I could clearly see the disappointment on his face.

once again, Ranking 5th player I missed my chance to win the world. However, it is far from abnormal.
He has finished in the top 10 four times in five tournaments this year. That speaks to his level of talent and consistency. But does that speak to his indecision?
Since his last PGA Tour win at Travelers in 2022, he has posted numerous top-five finishes and multiple runner-up finishes. He has finished second in the Tour Championship multiple times in recent years.
Personally, I’m not sure I agree with this idea. All in all, he’s definitely one of my favorite players on tour. But even I was left shaking his head at another missed opportunity on Sunday.
What do you think? Is Schauffele struggling to end, or am I living in the moment? Let us know in the comments section below.
