LSU running back Trey Holly breaks silence since attempted murder charge: ‘I am 100% innocent’

LSU running back Trey Holley has spoken out since he was charged with second-degree murder following the Feb. 9 shooting at an apartment in Union Parish, Louisiana.

Holly is one of three suspects who turned themselves in to police and were arrested in connection with the incident in which a woman was punched three times and a man was shot in the leg. The Advocate reported that three gunmen fired multiple shots after an earlier altercation at the apartment complex.

According to ESPN, Holly was also charged with felonious criminal damage to property and unlawful use of a weapon.

Holly insisted on Facebook that she is “100% innocent” despite the charges.

“As you all know, I was recently arrested on three felony charges,” he wrote. “I have been falsely identified, accused and arrested. I am 100% innocent and those who know me know that this is not at all in my character. I have no involvement whatsoever in the incident. Not involved.”

“I was at the home where the incident occurred. I was notified of the arrest warrant and wanted to fully cooperate, so I turned myself in. As the investigation is ongoing, I cannot divulge many details.”

LSU released a statement regarding Holley’s matter, saying he has been suspended indefinitely pending legal proceedings.

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident in Union Parish,” the LSU statement read. “This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities in accordance with departmental policy. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further,” the school said in a statement.

Holley appeared in just three games during his freshman season in 2023, gaining 110 rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 67-yard touchdown against Army on Oct. 21. He gained 91 yards in the game and was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Holley, a Louisiana native, broke the state’s rushing records and became the nation’s No. 4 ranked running back.

Holley was being held on $512,000 bail, according to ESPN.
