Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) said Monday she’s “tired” of discussions about President Biden’s age and isn’t concerned about his mental health, calling out former President Trump. also raised similar suspicions.
Poll shows Biden’s age is the top concern among 2024 voters, with a majority of Americans believing the president is too old for a second four-year term. . Dingell downplayed the importance and accuracy of polls and endorsed Biden’s mental competency.
“I’m also tired of people talking about his age,” she says. said in an interview on Fox News Monday.
She instead explained that she was concerned about the campaign’s limited schedule.
“What I think is Joe Biden needs to be Joe Biden,” she said. “A few weeks ago, I was with him for eight hours, and he was exactly the Joe Biden I know.”
“When he’s talking to people, he’s energizing and he cares about issues. He’s Joe Biden! There’s no one better than Joe Biden,” she continued. “I think the campaign needs to allow him to go out and be who he is.”
Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, will both be the oldest presidents in the country’s history at the end of their second terms.
