Student in custody after Colorado dorm room killings

The suspect arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people dead inside a dormitory at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs is a student, the school confirmed to Fox News.

“On Monday morning, February 19, 2024, the Colorado Springs Police Department took a suspect into custody in connection with the investigation of a homicide that occurred on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus on Friday, February 16, 2024 (UCCS ),” the Colorado Springs Police Department posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Just before 8 a.m. Monday, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit found Nicholas Jordan, of Detroit, Michigan, in his vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

“Investigative efforts continue to show that this was an isolated incident between acquaintances and not a random attack on other students at the school or university,” the post continued.

The university told Fox News that Jordan was enrolled at the school at the time of the shooting. He was arrested on two counts of first-degree murder.

Just before 6 a.m. Friday, university police received a report of shots fired from Crestone House, a campus residence hall.

Officers responded to the room and found a man and woman inside, later identified as Samuel Knopp, 24, of Parker, Colorado, and Celie Lane Montgomery, 26, of Pueblo, Colorado. All were dead. with one gunshot each A wound on the head.

The coroner’s office is currently investigating the cause and manner of death, with both cases being investigated as homicides.

Police said Sunday that the main focus of the investigation is the victims and the pursuit of justice for them and their families.
