Kevin O’Leary boycotts ‘loser’ New York after Trump verdict

“Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary is a “loser” after a Manhattan judge orders former President Donald Trump to pay $355 million as part of a civil lawsuit alleging fraudulent business practices. He said he has no intention of investing any money in New York.

O’Leary issued a warning to real estate investors following Judge Arthur Engoron’s Friday ruling that Trump and his two eldest sons lied about Trump’s wealth and inflated the value of his assets.

“This award means, I ignored the whole Trump thing and looked at what happened here…and I’m no different than any other investor. I’m shocked by this. ” said O’Leary. he told Fox Business Network on Monday.

Mr. O’Leary is a judge on the popular reality show known as “Mr. John.” “It’s amazing,” he said, adding, “I can’t understand or comprehend that decision at all.”

“There’s no basis for that.”

Mr O’Leary said he had heard from colleagues in the business community who had vowed to avoid New York, which was “already high on the list of loser states”.

“I would never invest in New York right now,” O’Leary said, adding, “I’m not the only one saying that.”

Engoron, a Democrat, concluded that President Trump and his companies are “likely to continue their misconduct” absent the penalties and regulations he has imposed.

Engoron concluded that Trump and his co-defendants “failed to accept responsibility” and that the experts who testified on Trump’s behalf “just denied reality.”

“This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin,” Engoron wrote in a 92-page opinion.

“They didn’t rob banks at gunpoint. Donald Trump is no Bernard Madoff. But the defendants can’t admit the error of their ways.”

O’Leary said his protests had “nothing to do with Trump.”

“This is a New York issue, not a Trump situation,” he said, accusing the state’s Democratic leaders of lowering “legal hurdles.”

“Aren’t they going to interrogate this judge?” What is this? ” He said.

Gov. Kathy Hochul insisted Sunday that the massive verdict against Trump shouldn’t scare other business owners.

“This is truly a very unusual situation, but New Yorkers who are law-abiding, rule-abiding businessmen have nothing to worry about because they are very different from Donald Trump and his actions,” Hochul said. said. Said “Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 Radio.

But Mr. O’Leary was unimpressed by Mr. Hochul’s attempts to calm nervous investors. “Her words will fall on deaf ears,” he said, adding that private companies will leave the Empire State in favor of low-tax areas like Texas and Florida.

“Every investor is concerned about where the victims are,” he said. Who lost the money? ”

“This is an arbitrary decision made by a judge,” O’Leary said.
