A group of unruly illegal immigrants at a New York City immigrant shelter on Thursday attacked a New York City Police Department officer who was trying to arrest them, according to a video of the assault shared on social media.

The two-minute video showed the suspect resisting arrest as police and shelter security staff attempted to subdue the disorderly group of adult male migrants.
Many angry onlookers threw various objects at the officers, including backpacks and bottles, while other migrants screamed furiously. At one point, a female officer was seen on video hitting her in the head with a backpack. The same female officer then ducked and narrowly avoided being hit by the second bag.
The suspect was eventually removed from the facility by several law enforcement officers protected by the shelter’s security staff.
The Post reported that it was unclear what caused the chaos at the scene. The NYPD announced that no one was hospitalized as a result of the incident.
Randall Island began holding illegal immigrants in August. Last month, a 24-year-old migrant was fatally stabbed at a shelter during an attack involving four other asylum seekers.
