A college basketball game in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday took on the appearance of a riot as members of both teams erupted in a brawl that lasted several minutes.
The game between Texas A&M-Commerce and Incarnate Word was held at the McDermott Center in San Antonio, and the final game ended in a close 76-72 contest. But the players still seemed to be keying in as they lined up for the traditional postgame handshake.
According to Fox News, Texas player Jerome Brewer Jr. threw a punch midway through the handshake line, causing some teammates and most of the coaching staff to cut in. Brewer was clearly furious and reportedly fought off some of his own players. Incarnate players.
Meanwhile, the fight escalated as members of both teams pushed and threw punches together.
Video also shows Incarnate’s Marcus Glover running around the floor to face the Texas players as coaches huddled to hold him back. And his teammate Josiah Hammonds was also seen mixing it up.

The scuffle eventually ended when Incarnate members and staff entered the visitors’ locker room and slammed the door, leaving the still smoking Commerce players outside.
After the scuffle, both schools issued a joint statement condemning the fighting.
“There is no place for such behavior in college sports,” the schools said. “The unsportsmanlike conduct that occurred after the game does not reflect the values of the universities involved, the Southland Conference, or its member institutions.
“This matter is currently under joint consideration by the conference administration and both institutions, as the safety of our student-athletes, staff, and fans is our primary concern,” they added.
The Southland Conference also released a statement saying it was considering the fight.
“We will work closely with both universities to review the footage and take appropriate disciplinary action,” the council said. “Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated in the Southland Conference, and the safety of our student-athletes, spectators, and officials remains our top priority.”
There’s no word yet on what’s in store for the team, although he will likely be suspended soon.
