Last week, a man was caught on surveillance camera stealing a bag containing $450 in cash from a Girl Scout cookie stand in Fort Worth, Texas. KDFW TV reported.

The theft occurred around 2 p.m. on Feb. 11 outside the Walmart on Clifford Street near White Settlement Road, police said.
Police shared video of a hooded suspect exiting the store, grabbing cash from a cookie stand and running away, KDFW reported, adding that the suspect has not yet been captured. But police provided an image of the suspect in hopes someone could identify him, the department said.
“We’re talking about a little girl here,” Fort Worth Police Officer Brad Perez told KDFW. “A little girl trying to sell Girl Scout cookies.”
Perez added that “approximately $450 in cash” was stolen and the department has been contacted asking “how they can help.”
KFDW said the suspect took a bag from a cart behind a cookie table.
“I almost cried.”
The station spoke Monday with Brooke Martinez, a third-year student who was selling cookies at a bowling alley in Fort Worth. She belonged to a different Girl Scout troop than the victim.
Brooke’s grandmother, Kathy Taylor, watched the video of the theft and told KDFW, “I almost cried. It’s a tough job and they work so hard for this.”
Taylor told the station that this is her granddaughter’s third year selling cookies and that she continues to hide the money. But Brooke’s grandmother told KDFW that she still finds it easy to let her guard down.
“You trust everyone. Girl Scouts trust everyone, and Girl Scouts are honest, and they think everyone is, but it’s a hard lesson learned,” Taylor said. added to the station.
Officer Perez told KDFW that many people have contacted police to contact the victim’s family and donate funds to offset the stolen cash.
