‘Biden Has Done All He Could’ on Border, He Had a Parole Program

On Tuesday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) said “President Biden has done the best he could” through executive action on immigrants, adding that “he has released parole at a very early stage. program and a family reunification program.” And we found that that number was suppressed a little bit. ”

Co-host Audie Cornish asked, “But should Democrats be concerned about the debate over immigration?” Does it have the support of voters? We see that President Biden is actually leading Democrats to adopt tougher policies, right? He was initially, in a sense, continuing his campaign. What do you think about this now? ”

Mr. Espaillat replied: “Well, I think we all agree that the immigration system is broken. We all agree that we need to fix the border. President Biden has done the best he can. We proposed a parole program and a family reunification program very early on, and we saw those numbers slowly curtailed. And now we’ve agreed to a bill that includes some of the toughest border security measures pushed by Republicans. But the Republicans voted no and voted yes. So he did the best he could.”

Co-host John Berman then asked, “Do you think there are any executive actions President Biden could take before the State of the Union on immigration?” There are reports that it is under consideration? ”

“I’d like to see a balanced approach to immigration, maybe something about Dreamers and border security. I’m on board with the Dignity Act, which is bipartisan legislation…that includes things like immigration reform and border security,” Espaillat said. There are elements to it that I may disagree with, but we can’t include them all in this discussion. We need to reach a consensus. The Dignity Act is a good step forward.”
