A Louisiana homeowner shot and killed an intruder early Tuesday morning, after which the intruder fled the scene. Houma police said They quickly arrested two suspects involved in the robbery. Houma is about an hour southwest of New Orleans.

The homeowner in the 300 block of Roberta Grove Boulevard told police who responded to the scene around 5:15 a.m. that he had shot the intruder.
According to police, the victim stated that he heard a noise on the first floor of his home and went down the stairs to investigate. The victim added that the intruder confronted him on the first floor, after which the homeowner fired a gun and the intruder fled the home.
Police said an investigation revealed the suspect was injured.
Officers identified the suspect as 34-year-old Dex Hebert and began searching the neighborhood, police said.
Authorities said they found Hebert in a home in the 1200 block of Gibb Street, about a five-minute drive from the scene of the home invasion.
As officers attempted to make contact with Hebert, a woman identified as 26-year-old Ty Corbitt came out of the home with a handgun, police said.
Police said Corbitt was quickly taken into custody without incident and Hebert was found lying on a couch at home with a gunshot wound to the head.
When officers initially entered the home and could not find Ebert, police said they announced they would release a K9 into the home. When there was no response, police released K9 Mario into the home and said the K9 found the suspect hiding under a mattress. Police said Hebert was taken into custody without incident.
What happened next?
Police said Hébert was taken to the hospital with a wound to his forehead, but the wound was found to be minor. After being treated, police said Hebert was charged with one count of simple robbery and an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.
Police said Corbitt was found to be involved in the robbery and was charged with simple robbery, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
