Republican lawmakers on Wednesday accused James Biden of contradicting himself during testimony about his alleged business dealings with his brother and his family.
The president’s brother was not initially involved in the deal with his nephew Hunter Biden and business associates Rob Walker, Tony Bobulinski and James Gillier, a person familiar with the interview said. Stated.
But when Biden was presented with the signed agreement, he said he had no recollection of signing it and changed his story, the people said.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) told reporters after the interview that the interview was “interesting” and that Biden “contradicted himself.”
This conclusion was shared by Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, who told reporters, “Let me just say this: There are many things that Mr. Biden is saying that are directly contradicted by the document.” There is,” he said.
The lawmakers’ comments came after James Biden voluntarily conducted a private interview on Capitol Hill as part of House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into his brother, President Joe Biden.

“I have a 50-year career in various business ventures. Joe Biden has never been involved in any of those activities and has no direct or indirect financial interest in them,” the president’s brother said. Stated. “none.”
The interviews lasted more than eight hours with staff and members of both the Republican and Democratic parties. During several breaks, Republican senators came out and told reporters, without going into detail, that James Biden’s answers contradicted his opening statement and avoided directly answering investigators’ questions. He said he was trying.

The interview with James Biden was the latest in a series of recent interviews conducted by Republican lawmakers in an effort to revive impeachment proceedings over the Biden family’s overseas spending, which have stalled in recent months.
Wednesday’s testimony came after the central claims of the Republican investigation were overturned by federal prosecutors. Federal prosecutors last week indicted an FBI informant who alleges there was a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme involving the president, his son Hunter, and a Ukrainian energy company.
But Republicans insist the tip is just one part of a broader probe and say they intend to move forward with it. “The fundamental facts remain the same,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said.
