The US military is currently monitoring a suspicious high-altitude balloon flying over the western part of the country.

U.S. authorities announced Friday that a balloon has been spotted floating over Colorado. However, so far it has been determined that it does not pose a threat.
The origins and purpose of the balloons are currently unknown.
A military plane was sent to investigate the foreign balloon.
The balloon sighting comes a year after the U.S. military shot down what was believed to be a reconnaissance balloon from China. The Chinese balloon was reportedly loaded with sophisticated spy equipment.
However, the Chinese Communist Party denied these claims and said the balloons were for the purpose of “gathering weather data.”
The previous balloon was shot down off the coast of South Carolina on February 4.th2023.
