Calif: 8 Dead And One Injured In Collision, Officials Say

Eight people were killed and one injured Friday when a pickup truck crashed into a minivan transporting farm workers to work, the California Highway Patrol said.

Agency spokesman Javier Ruvalcaba said “for unknown reasons” an “elderly male” driver in a Chevrolet Silverado veered into oncoming traffic at the Madera County GMC around 6:15 a.m. local time. I crashed into a safari.

Additionally, six passengers in the GMC and the drivers of both vehicles were killed. One person was sent off and the other was partially sent off.

Ruvalcaba added that those injured in the crash were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California. Information about the passenger’s condition was not immediately released to the press.

“Except for the driver and passenger in the gray van, none of the occupants were wearing seat belts,” Ruvalcaba said.

Ruvalcaba also said that “all parties [were] The victim’s name and age have not yet been released. Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing and it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
