A security guard was shot at a Family Dollar store on Chicago’s West Side, police said.
Authorities were called to the discount store Friday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., FOX 32 reported, citing Chicago police.
Authorities said the suspect approached Lois Wright, 43, with a rifle and shot her dead inside the store.
Wright, a security guard at the store, was shot multiple times.

The 43-year-old man was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police confirmed to local media.
Jesse Brown, who works as a security guard at a store next door, said he was at work when he heard the gunshots.
“I was at work when I heard a gunshot next door, so I went next door to see what was going on and saw my friend Lois on the ground,” Brown told FOX 32.

Brown said he had known Wright for 20 years and that they both worked as security guards.
“He was a good friend. He loved security work. I loved security work. But it’s really sad that this happened to him,” Brown said. Ta.

“All he was trying to do was work and take care of his family and now this is it,” he added.

Chicago police said they do not have a suspect in custody and are investigating the incident.
