Shortly after the Los Angeles Rams season ended, head coach Sean McVay announced that quarterback Stetson Bennett, who left the team early for undisclosed reasons and was placed on the reserve/non-football list in September, He seemed cautiously optimistic.
But apparently he got more of an answer, and it doesn’t seem to be pretty for the two-time Georgia champion.
McVay seemed to acknowledge that the team has an open roster spot.

“Really in our minds, there’s no backup quarterback on this roster,” McVay said. new york post. “But we’ll see how that plays out in terms of how it impacts Stetson and the draft or free agency.”
Bennett made a public appearance at a Georgia football game in November. At the time, McVay said Bennett’s absence was “bigger than football.”
Mr. McVeigh said Thursday that he would contact Mr. Bennett “at the appropriate time.”
“I think the first thing is to get in touch with him. We’re going to do it at the right time. And you know where you are and what we think is best for him and for our football team.” Will he understand what it means to think ‘let him go back into this ecosystem?’ ” He said. “Those are going to be conversations that we’re going to have, and I think that will become clearer once we have a better idea of what to do with it.”

The Rams selected Bennett in the fourth round of last year’s draft, and he spent the preseason with the Rams. However, in mid-September he was placed on the reserve/non-football player list.
“Out of respect for him and the situation, we will keep all the details internal,” McVeigh told reporters at the time. “And I’m not going to give any additional information or anything on that because I want to be able to do that out of respect for the situation.”

Bennett played four seasons at the University of Georgia, the last two as a starter. He totaled 8,429 yards, 66 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions in 42 games, including an incredible senior season of 4,128 yards and 27 touchdowns, and a blowout win over TCU in 2023 that earned him an All-America title. This includes those who won.
