Times Square has seen several violent crimes involving immigrants in recent weeks, including the assault of two New York City police officers.
Several immigrants have been charged in connection with an incident last month in which they allegedly kicked and punched officers as they were directed to move along 42nd Street. Many of them were initially released without bail after their arrest, prompting harsh criticism of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
