Teens bust into Wisconsin luxury dealership, steal 9 cars worth over $500,000, police say

A group of teenagers believed to be members of a Chicago-area organized crime syndicate broke into a luxury Range Rover dealership in Wisconsin last week and made off with nine cars worth more than $500,000, authorities said.

Surveillance camera footage captured nine masked suspects breaking into a Jaguar Land Rover dealership in Waukesha, about 30 miles west of Milwaukee, around 6 a.m. on Feb. 18.

Waukesha Police Department Lt. Dan Bauman told WISN-TV that the suspects entered the dealership, located where the car keys were kept, and then activated the key fobs to locate each vehicle they stole. he said.

“Kids these days are increasingly brazenly going out and bringing groups like this to commit crimes like this,” Bauman said.

The video also shows the suspects backing one car inside the service center, smashing through the service door and entering the parking lot, then driving away from the dealership in all nine cars in a single file. .

The nine luxury cars are valued at more than $583,000, Bauman said.

Police said at the time that the suspects were believed to be “a group of organized crime teens from the Chicago area” and most were known to members of police task forces in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

One of the suspects, a 17-year-old Chicago boy, was arrested Sunday in the southern Wisconsin community of Pleasant Prairie after the stolen car he was driving crashed along Interstate 94 during a police pursuit. Police announced. He is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $50,000 bail and faces charges of robbery, theft and criminal damage to property, Bauman said.

Police in Wisconsin and Illinois continued to search for eight other suspects Friday.

Police say six of the nine stolen vehicles have been recovered, including four in Chicago, one in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield and one in Wisconsin after a highway crash that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old. There is only one in the state.
