A day after Haley’s disappointing performance in the South Carolina primary, Americans for Prosperity (AFP Action), the political arm of billionaire Charles Koch’s conservative network, announced that Nikki The company announced in a memo that it would suspend spending on Haley’s presidential campaign.
in Memo dated February 25th “As this weekend’s South Carolina presidential primary and Senate engagements are in full swing, we are taking stock of where we are and, as always,… “The time has come to optimize it so that we can continue to do so.” Resources to help us achieve our goals. ”
In a memo shared with The Hill, Seidel made it clear that the group remains supportive of Haley, a former U.N. ambassador, but that the group will instead pursue U.S. Senate and House elections. He said he would concentrate resources on
“Nikki Haley has stepped up to the challenge and provided America with a positive vision and solutions to some of the most difficult problems facing our country. He is the most likely candidate to lead the country in a new and positive direction,” Seidel wrote. “As we have discussed since we announced our endorsement in November, we knew the presidential primary would face the longest odds, but given what is at stake, we could not remain on the sidelines. I also knew that.
“She has made it clear that she will continue to fight, and we wholeheartedly support her in this effort. However, given the challenges ahead in the reserve state, it is important that outside groups So while we continue to support her, we will continue to focus our resources where we can make a difference, and that’s in the U.S. Senate and beyond. The House of Representatives,” Seidel added.
The memo was filed just months after a group aligned with Ms. Koch announced its support for Ms. Haley’s White House bid in November, and the well-funded group is expected to support the Republican Party in the presidential primary. It was my first time supporting a candidate. The group said at the time that former President Trump and President Biden “will only further perpetuate the country’s downward spiral in politics” after Trump signaled last year that he would not support the 2024 bid.
The suspension comes as a blow to Haley, who suffered a disappointing loss in her home state of South Carolina on Saturday. According to results from Decision Desk Headquarters, the former president has a nearly 20-point lead over Haley in her home state, making the Palmetto State the third year in a row that Trump has won by a wide margin over Haley. The two did not compete in Nevada, instead holding head-to-head primaries and caucuses.
Despite her various defeats in the primary, Haley vowed to remain in the primary, citing the disapproval ratings of Biden and Trump.
Haley’s national spokeswoman, Olivia Perez-Cubas, thanked AFP for its assistance with Sunday’s race.
“AFP is a great organization and ally in the fight for freedom and conservative government. We thank them for their tremendous cooperation in this race,” Perez-Cubas said in a statement to The Hill. Ta. “Our fight continues, and with over $1 million raised by grassroots conservatives in the last 24 hours alone, we have plenty of fuel to keep fighting. We have to save. There are countries where this is not the case.”
