Imagine driving down the highway in a sophisticated electric car. Along the way, I started to want to skim the waves as I crossed. With the Trident LS-1, it’s not just a fantasy, it’s a reality. This innovative car-boat hybrid is set to revolutionize the way we think about transportation by providing seamless land and water travel in one vehicle.

How does a car-boat hybrid work?
The Trident LS-1 (L for land, S for sea) is a three-wheeled vehicle that can run on land and launch directly into the water from a launch pad. You don’t need a trailer, so there’s no hassle. Equipped with an electric motor, it provides sustainable zero-emission driving.
It also features hydrofoil technology with blades or vanes that allow it to rise approximately 3 feet above the water, reducing drag at sea and providing a smoother ride. Since the hull is above the water, turning is also stable.

How fast does a car/boat hybrid go?
The Trident LS-1 can travel up to 35 mph on water and 15 mph without hydrofoils. It can handle waves up to 4 feet, making it ideal for coastal trips. On land, it can reach speeds of up to 95 miles per hour. What’s even more surprising is that the Trident LS-1 is designed to prevent seasickness caused by the erratic movement of the ship on the water.

Where can I park my car?
This vehicle is only 7 feet long, so it can easily fit in your garage. This was what the engineering company wanted. You also don’t need a tow vehicle that can fall into the water when launching your boat.

Who is behind this amphibious vehicle?
Poseidon AmphibWorks This is the company that developed the Trident LS-1. Our mission is to develop electric vehicles that can easily travel from land to sea. They have a team of experts who know how to design and build these amazing machines. The company was co-founded by Andy Langesfeld and Steve Tice, who have extensive experience in amphibious vehicles and electrical engineering. They started working on the project in his 2021 and launched the company in 2022. We’re still working on the prototype, but we promise to deliver something great.

When can you get yourself a car/boat hybrid?
You may be wondering when you can get your hands on this amphibious vehicle. Well, the creators are working hard to make it happen. They are finalizing plans for a prototype and expect it to be completed by the end of this year. At that time, they will begin receiving the deposit for the vehicle. Target price for the vehicle will start at less than $100,000.
If you live in California, you can buy it around December 2025. We also have a service center in San Diego where you can get help. If you live outside of California, you can still pick up your Trident LS-1 in San Diego or wait until June 2026 when it’s scheduled to ship to other states.
