FOX News host Brian Kilmeade told former President Trump that former White House chief of staff Steve Bannon and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), one of his closest allies in Congress, He warns people not to listen to their opinions.
“I think both candidates need to realize this: If Joe Biden listens to his team, he’s going to lose,” Kilmeade said on Tuesday’s episode of Fox & Friends. “And if Donald Trump listened to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon, I think he would lose.”
Mr Kilmeade said most voters “don’t have extreme views”.
“The one who understands that first… will be successful,” the host added.
Mr. Bannon currently hosts a popular podcast and streaming show titled “War Room,” where he regularly promotes Mr. Trump and his policies, rails against the former president’s enemies, and criticizes them for not being conservative enough. They are using it to attack Republicans they deem to be disloyal to the former president.
Gaetz led the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) last year and has been a longtime Trump ally.
Mr. Bannon and Mr. Trump have mocked Fox News in recent months, attacking the Murdoch family as “globalists” and claiming the station is trying to thwart Mr. Trump’s reelection efforts.
Nevertheless, the former president has participated in numerous town hall events and exclusive interviews with high-profile cable channels this year in preparation for his re-run for the White House in the fall.
