Terrence Bradley, Georgia prosecutor Nathan Wade’s former divorce attorney, said Tuesday that text messages about the chronology of Wade’s romantic relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis (D) are mere speculation. He testified that it was not based on any facts.
Bradley took the stand again on Tuesday at a hearing to decide whether the top prosecutor in former President Donald Trump’s Georgia election interference case should be disqualified because of his romantic relationship.
Mr. Bradley, considered a key defense witness, has been ordered to testify in more detail about the romantic relationship between Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade, which both prosecutors have acknowledged existed. , alleges that the investigation began after Wade was hired to investigate Trump in November 2021. , the relationship did not cause any conflict.
Bradley admitted Tuesday that he sent text messages to one of his defense attorneys, Ashley Merchant, that contradicted prosecutors’ timeline of their relationship.
But in the end, Bradley’s testimony Tuesday was not the blow to the prosecution that the defense had hoped for. Instead, Bradley repeatedly responded to questions by saying he couldn’t remember the details and that the text messages were just speculation.
“You said their relationship started when she left the DA’s office and was a judge in South Fulton. Where did you get that knowledge?” Merchant told Bradley on the stand that Willis and I asked about the text messages about Wade.
Bradley answered, “I was guessing,” and when asked again, “Nobody told me. I was guessing.”
When asked what led to his assumption, whether someone had tipped him off or if he had witnessed something, Bradley replied: I mean, it was a guess. I can’t say anything specific, but if that’s what you’re looking for. ”
“Why did you infer that? You can’t say anything concrete?” asked the merchant.
“But this was years ago. I mean, I don’t remember, no, I don’t remember.”
“Did you have a reason to lie to me?” Merchant quipped, to which Bradley replied: “I don’t know if the speculation is false.”
Later, when questioned by Trump’s lawyer Steve Sadow, Bradley again testified that he had speculations about the timeline of Willis and Wade’s relationship.
Sadow recalled text messages presented by Merchant and said Bradley “absolutely” believed Willis and Wade’s romance began before the district attorney hired the special prosecutor.
“That’s just speculation on my part,” Bradley said.
“Why on earth would you make a guess with this text message?” Sadow asked, and after some back-and-forth, Bradley finally replied, “I didn’t have an answer.”
