Exclusive: Former President Trump’s 2024 Republican primary rival Nikki Haley upholds Supreme Court’s decision to bring Trump’s immunity suit, giving the commander-in-chief “complete immunity” from criminal penalties. They argue that it shouldn’t be done.
“The Supreme Court should take up this issue and decide it once and for all. No one, not even the president, not Clinton, not Biden, not Trump, should be completely exempted from punishment for the crimes they committed. ” Haley told FOX News Digital. on Thursday.
In a victory for the former president, the court agreed to hear his appeal on the grounds of presidential immunity. The court, which is made up of three justices appointed by President Trump, has moved to expedite the matter, starting arguments the week of April 22 and planning to issue a decision by late June.

Meanwhile, opponents of President Trump criticized the ruling.
California Democratic Party Chair Emeritus Nancy Pelosi said the court was “on trial” with the ruling, saying, “We believe in a fundamental American value that no one is above the law, even a former president. “Will the judge uphold this?” he questioned.
Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) also criticized the court’s plan to review President Trump’s presidential immunity claims. “Delaying the trial on January 6th will suppress important evidence that the American people deserve to hear,” she wrote to X.
“Donald Trump tried to overturn the election and seize power. Our judicial system must be able to bring him to justice before the next election. SCOTUS should rule on this case quickly. ” she added.
Before her term in the House ended, Cheney served on the special committee investigating the January 6 attack. She ran for re-election, but she lost in the Republican primary to Congresswoman Harriet Hageman. R-Wyo.
