New York father, Cory Beschorner, works scene of hit-and-run not knowing his son was killed

A New York father was called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident without knowing his son was the victim of a fatal accident, according to WBNG.

Authorities confirmed to WBNG that Tyler Beschoner, 29, was struck and killed by a car on Route 363 in Binghamton, New York on February 17th.

Tyler Beschoener’s father, Corey Beschoener, who works for the New York State Department of Transportation, was called that night to help with a traffic stop due to a fatal hit-and-run accident.

He told WBNG that he did not know it was his son who was killed.

“This is one of our worst nightmares,” Corey Beshoner said. “When we were getting ready, we were talking about someone’s world being turned upside down tonight. We didn’t know if it was ours or our family’s.”

The Binghamton Police Department told WBNG that the death of Tyler Beshoner remains under investigation.

Captain Cory Miner is appealing to the community to come forward with any information they have.

“Community members need to be aware that they may have heard something. They may have heard someone talking about this, but they may have heard something or the importance of it,” he said.

Tyler Beschoner’s family is desperate for answers and for those responsible to come forward.

“I don’t want to be hateful, I don’t want to be angry, because it’s not going to change anything and it’s not going to bring him back,” said Shanae Beschoner, Tyler’s mother.

Shanay added that Tyler Beshoner’s 7-year-old son Jaden is “struggling.”

“He’s just having a hard time. He keeps saying he’s alone. He says, ‘It’s just me.’ And I said, “No.” You have all of us,” Shanae Beshoner said.

A family friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and a trust for his son.

“Tyler was 29 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. Jayden Beshoner, his son, was the center of his world and Tyler was the center of his world,” the page read. “Tyler was one of the most genuine and selfless people I have ever met. He was loved by many throughout his life and truly knew how to lighten the mood in any room he entered. He had a deep love for his friends and family.”
