Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) said Friday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Republicans are coming for “every last step of freedom for women to make their own health decisions.”
Porter said, “Look, this whole thing is about Nancy Mace being performative and the Republicans trying to convince people that they are going to end women’s freedom to make their own decisions about their health and wellness.” It’s about trying to make people feel like they’re not going to protect them until “when and whether to start a family.”See, people said egg It will never fall. it fell. Now they say they will never attack something like IVF. They never attack birth control. Wake up, America. To everyone who is a woman or knows and loves a woman, and the belief and freedom to be up in arms about this. And the only solution here is to vote them out. ”
She continued, “This is the beginning, and if we don’t act, it will be the end. So we need to stop mincing our words, stop trying to reassure Americans.” I think we have to. Our rights are under attack and we have to fight like hell.
Porter added: “I think it reflects a lack of urgency, that kind of language. This is a harbinger of things to come. This is a gradual erosion of our democracy. It’s about people not having freedom today. It’s about our daughters having less freedom than we do. So it’s about how elected leaders across the country are doing this. I think we need to address the issue more urgently.”
