Bedford County Correctional Facility officials said Nyal Piper, 81, and Renee Piper, 62, were both incarcerated as of Friday afternoon. Court records do not list attorneys for them, and district court officials said no attorneys appeared on their behalf.

Prosecutors say the charges involve 90 dogs, eight cats and one turtle.

They face additional charges for the three animal bodies found in the home and the five dogs they had to euthanize.
