An injured puppy meets his heroes.

American soldiers deployed to the Middle East found Tiny Tammy lying in a pile of trash, unable to move her hind legs.

The New York-based nonprofit Paw of War told FOX News Digital that the soldiers knew she needed immediate attention, but they were unable to bring her to the base. It said in a statement that it was not possible.

Since finding Tammy, soldiers have been building an improvised shelter, delivering food and water, and caring for the pup.

One day, the pup dragged himself down the road to a military base to find the heroes.

“The day we found Tammy, she was hiding under an old sofa that was upside down in a pile of trash,” said Sgt. Jack said in a statement. “She was shaking in pain and her eyes were crying out for help.” (His last name is being withheld to protect her privacy.)

“She can’t wag her little tail, but when she looks at us you can see she’s happy. It’s not only amazing that she survived this long, but also that she’s now… But I desperately want to trust people.”

The sergeant thought Tammy would never make it to the post, but said he could “give her a life where all her needs are met” once she returns to the United States.

“And she will be safe and loved,” he said. “She’s fighting for her life. We can’t give up on her now. We’re so grateful to everyone who is helping to save her.”
