Biden hit with record disapproval rating in new poll as Trump holds lead

A new poll released Saturday by The New York Times and Siena College shows former President Trump leading President Biden, with voters saying they have little confidence in Biden’s leadership.

According to the survey, 43% of respondents said they would vote for Biden if the election were held today, while 48% said they would vote for Trump. The survey also found that 47% of respondents said they “strongly disapprove” of Biden’s actions as president, and 14% said they “somewhat disapprove.”

Only 17% of respondents said they “strongly approve” of Biden’s job performance.

The NYT and Siena conducted a poll of 980 registered voters nationwide from February 25th to 28th. The poll was conducted in both English and Spanish using cell phones and landlines. The margin of error was advertised as 4%.

Additionally, the poll found that only one in four voters believe the country is heading in the right direction. And, according to the Times, twice as many Americans think Biden’s policies have hurt them than say they’ve helped.

On the border, 50% of respondents said they supported restrictions on migrants’ ability to seek asylum, compared to just 43% who opposed them.

The numbers were even worse for Biden when it came to the economy, with 74% of Americans saying the economy was “bad” or “fair,” compared to 74% who said the economy was “good” or “excellent.” It was 26%.

But the survey wasn’t all good news for President Trump, with 53% of respondents saying they believed Trump committed a “serious federal crime.”

The U.S. Supreme Court is considering whether President Trump can be removed from state voting over his alleged involvement in an “insurrection” in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

He also faces several charges related to the 2020 election and other criminal charges.
