Yankees’ Anthony Volpe smacks another two hits with flatter swing path

Items to watch for Saturday’s Yankees’ Grapefruit League game:

leader

Anthony Volpe’s offseason adjustments to flatten his bat trajectory appeared to be paying off as he had two hits, a reverse line drive and a chopper hit up the middle.

leaky pen

Cody Morris has an outside shot to get into the bullpen, but he was useless against the Orioles on Saturday. The swingman gave up five runs on three hits and two walks over the innings.

It caught my eye

Center fielder Trent Grisham made a powerful diving catch on Cedric Mullins’ fly ball to right-center field.

Grisham’s excellent defense at this position will likely see him used frequently as a late-inning defensive replacement.

Sunday schedule

Nestor Cortez will make his second start this spring when the Yankees host the Tigers at Steinbrenner Field at 1:05 p.m.
