Philadelphia Flower Show in full bloom celebrates community bonds: ‘Wonderful tradition’

Spring has arrived at the 2024 Philadelphia Flower Show.

The show, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, runs through March 10, 2024 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia.

This year’s theme is “United by Flowers.” We celebrate the bonds of community that emerge from a shared love and appreciation for gardening and its impact on the American landscape.

The Philadelphia Flower Show includes exhibits, events, vendors, educational exhibits, youth activities, and endless floral inspiration for enthusiasts.

The award-winning Philadelphia Flower Show is the nation’s largest and world’s longest-running horticultural event, featuring exhibits from some of the world’s leading floral and landscape designers, according to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Started in 1829 by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Philadelphia Flower Show offers hours of garden exhibits, flower arrangement exhibits, gardening presentations, and demonstrations from horticultural experts. According to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, 2023 survey data shows that 80% of Philadelphia Flower Show attendees were traveling from between Connecticut and Virginia.

This flower show has become a tradition among gardening enthusiasts and is visited by many people every year.

Alex Lawler, a management consultant, and his mother, Barb Lawler, a schoolteacher, both of Washington Township, New Jersey, were second in line to enter the show Saturday morning.

“My mom and I come every year and it’s a great tradition that we share,” Alex Lawler told FOX News Digital.

“We admire all the exhibits and look forward to attending the flower show together every year. The exhibits are breathtaking and a real treat.”

In addition to exhibits, attendees can improve their green thumb with a gardening speaker series up to four times a day on a variety of topics.

These topics include garden design, vegetable gardening, native plants, container gardening, shade gardening, rock gardening, and ornamental plants.

After the exhibition, attendees can browse a market featuring botanical-inspired artwork, jewelry, garden supplies, apparel, home decor, home goods and more.

Starting today through March 9, the flower show will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hours for the show’s final day, March 10, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This year marks the 195th time this exhibition has been held. Nearly 40 major exhibitors will participate, according to the website.
