Pro-Trump lawmakers on Monday celebrated the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to reject Colorado’s attempt to keep former President Donald Trump from the presidential vote on 14th Amendment grounds.
All nine justices, appointed by Democratic and Republican presidents, agreed that the states lacked the authority to “enforce Article III under the Constitution with respect to federal offices, particularly the office of the President.” However, this is possible for national civil servants.
“It’s the right decision,” Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. I’m glad to see you stand up for it.”

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) called the decision “a huge victory for decency and democracy!”
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) also welcomed the decision, telling X, “SCOTUS rightly defended Americans’ right to vote for Trump. The left’s attack on our democracy cannot stand.” wrote. #TRUMP2024. ”
“9 to 0. Communists will have to find another way to “defend democracy.” #Maga” added Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, noting that the decision was unanimous.
Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.) said he was “pleased” the court chose “freedom’s side.”

Democrats remained largely silent on the Supreme Court’s decision. President Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
