Steve Cohen fires back at Yankees fan critical of Mets’ dance team

Steve Cohen didn’t like one fan’s reaction to the Mets’ decision to start a dance team.

The Queen’s Crew, a 19-member co-ed dance team, will entertain the Citi Field crowd this season before games and during game breaks.

“This is baseball…this is not the NBA or NFL,” said one X user who calls himself a Yankees fan. reacted to the news Saturday. “There’s no halftime in this game. I don’t see how they need a dance team.”

Cohen, the owner of the Amazins, felt the need to fight back.

“Great point,” he wrote hours after the critical post. “I forgot how serious baseball is compared to other sports.”

The Braves, Astros, and Marlins are among the MLB teams implementing dance teams, and the Knicks and Nets are local non-baseball examples.

The Queen’s Crew will perform between innings, including a T-shirt toss and a stretch in the bottom of the seventh inning, and will sometimes travel down the aisle for a freestyle routine.

Trisha Donlin, vice president of brand marketing, has seen mixed reactions from baseball fans and believes this performance will help sway detractors.

“Of course there are going to be some longtime fans who don’t want change,” Donlin, who took Cohen’s social media posts as a show of support, told The Post’s Mark W. Sanchez. “But we’re very optimistic that people will buy into this because this talent is really undeniable. This team will captivate you in a big way.
