“If you can’t say it, say it. Literally. We’re just talking to you like normal people. Say it’s genocide. Say it. Over 30,000 people died. AOC, you can’t just say that “just once?” ” another protester shouted, citing figures from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. “Just say one word. That’s it. That’s all we need you to say.”

A visibly angry Ocasio-Cortez told the protesters that she was going to cut the video so that her comments would be taken “completely out of context.”
And she seems to acknowledge that Israel’s actions amount to genocide.
“I already said it was. And you guys are going to pretend it wasn’t, over and over again. It’s messed up. And you’re not helping these people. You’re ‘We’re not helping them,’ Ocasio-Cortez said.
The protesters, clearly unsettled and dissatisfied with her answers, continue to chase the couple on the sidewalk. One of them references her past comments condemning the Armenian genocide.
“Why didn’t you say it in front of everyone? Why in front of us?”

Ocasio-Cortez has repeatedly accused Israel of retaliation after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas militants killed 1,200 civilians, injured hundreds more and took about 250 hostages.
She called for a ceasefire and suggested that the US “conditionalize aid, if not reduce it, to the Netanyahu government.”
Just weeks after the Oct. 7 attack, Ocasio-Cortez said she was not defending Hamas but accused Israel of committing war crimes.
