Philosopher Judith Butler said on Sunday that the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel, which killed 1,200 people, was not a terrorist attack but an “act of armed resistance” and that she was not sure if it was “the right thing to do”. He said it was debatable.
Butler was the guest speaker Onunu’s paroler, a left-wing political discussion show. She is known as one of the leading thinkers of the radical left-wing “queer theory” movement. She has publicly opposed the state of Israel for decades.
In his remarks, Bulter said he “didn’t like” the Oct. 7 attack and that he “got into trouble” by the left “for saying it was painful for me.”
Judith Butler describes the October 7th massacre as armed resistance, saying, “You can have different views about Hamas as a political party, and you can have different views about armed resistance. But she also insisted: “This is not a terrorist attack, this is not an anti-Semitic attack.” It was an attack on Israelis…Violence against Palestinians has been going on for decades. This was a revolt from a conquered state against a violent state apparatus, okay? Let’s be clear… at least let’s call it armed resistance. That way you can debate whether you think it’s right or if they did the right thing. …You know, this is a public debate. ”
The audience gave her remarks an enthusiastic round of applause.
Butler identifies as Jewish, lesbian, and non-binary, and recently criticized Jewish feminist Phyllis Chelser said:
Butler appears to be either unaware of some important facts or intentionally concealing them. Israel left Gaza in 2005. The Iranian-funded Islamist terrorist organization Hamas controls, indoctrinates, tortures, torments, and impoverishes the Gazan people. Hamas took most of the aid intended for Gaza civilians and diverted it to its own bank accounts abroad or to build terror tunnels and weapons. No Arab state is willing to provide even temporary refuge to Gazans. Egypt separated Gaza from the Sinai Peninsula with a wall. Hamas increasingly forces women to wear veils and marry into polygamous families, risking honor killings if they “disgrace” their families.
…
do[es] These non-binary lesbians…don’t understand that if they lived in Gaza, Hamas would torture them and decapitate them, along with other LGBT people Hamas might touch. I wonder?
Butler was also the chief. antagonist Twenty years ago, then-Harvard University President Lawrence Summers warned that anti-Israel criticism on campus was leading to a rise in anti-Semitism, and those words have proven to be true. There is.
