Customers of The North Face brands located in the United Kingdom (UK) can now receive a 20% discount when they complete a one-hour course on racial inclusivity.

The sportswear company characterized access to the outdoors as “white privilege” “in this context,” and said its progressive campaign in the UK “raises personal awareness of the barriers people of color (POC) face in the outdoors.” It claims that its purpose is to educate the public.
The study also aims to “promote a deeper understanding of the unique challenges people of color face in accessing the outdoors,” according to the study.
Following this week’s outlet article Sun, first announced in November, news of the course exploded on social media. Customers who agreed to take the online course highlighted the sections of the “module” that they found most dissatisfying, such as the definition of “white privilege.”
According to the DEI course description, “In this particular context, we call it ‘white privilege,’ the exclusion of others due to historically entrenched racism and prejudice.” It means people are given access to the outdoors based on their race and skin color when they have the chance.”
“The North Face has always believed that the outdoors should be a welcoming, fair and safe place for everyone. The aim is to shine a light on the barriers to entry that prevent people from doing so,” the brand said in a separate statement.
However, the 20% off brand discount for this course is only available in the UK and not in the US.
The 58-year-old Colorado-based company, owned by VF Corporation, the same company that owns JanSport, Vans and Timberland, has faced criticism for being too progressive and “woke.” I took a bath.
“I might just give the politically incorrect answer as a matter of course. Can I still get my coupon?” an online user posted on Twitter.
Tony Young, founder of the Free Speech Union, a British conservative non-profit that fights cancel culture, said: “The irony is that The North Face is here because all of its customers are white.” “It’s a tacit admission that something is true.” “After all, why would a black customer have to take a course on ‘white privilege’ to get his 20% discount?”
