Lousy Streaming Choices Keep Daniel Day-Lewis in Retirement

What’s driving Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis into retirement is looking at 7,000 streaming options and realizing not a single one of them is worth bothering with.

In an interview with Screen Daily, Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan explained why Day-Lewis, who has appeared in three of Sheridan’s films, has no intention of coming out of retirement.

“He says he’s done. I keep talking to him. I’d love to do something with him again,” Sheridan said. Said. “He’s just like everyone else. When he opens the streamer, he has 7,000 options and none of them are good.”

Sheridan further precisely explained: “Movies have been moved from the public domain to the private domain. All you need is a remote control to stop them.” It’s not the same experience. ”

“It’s great to see Daniel come back and do something because he’s so good.”

Day-Lewis is the only actor in history to win three Academy Awards for Best Actor. The first one is my left foot (1989), directed by Sheridan. Then came there will be blood (2007) and lincoln (year 2012). Only Katharine Hepburn has won more Oscars for leading roles (four). Frances McDormand is the only lead actor to win three Oscars with Day-Lewis. Day-Lewis is the only other actor or actress to win three Oscars, including Best Supporting Actor: Walter Brennan, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, and Ingrid Bergman.

Looking at Day-Lewis’ resume, this is a man who takes his art seriously, so one can only imagine his disgust at what happened to his art during the Gestapo era. for example, there will be blood, this is a fierce attack on capitalism and Christianity. I happen to be a huge fan of both capitalism and Christianity, and I treasure this film as a near-masterpiece. The last 10 minutes are impossible for me. The rest is mesmerizing.but there will be blood It’s not woke in the sense that it’s simple, one-dimensional, self-righteous, and does all the thinking for you. Hollywood doesn’t make complex, challenging, thought-provoking, mature, intelligent movies like this one. there will be blood already.

Hollywood doesn’t even produce intelligent crowd-pleasers like Day-Lewis’s great work. the last mohawk (1992) Already.

Day-Lewis is no Robert De Niro and has a real talent for showcasing his talents in between occasional worthy projects.

The movie business is so broken that Jim Sheridan can’t make anything.Jim Sheridan gave us In my father’s name, my left foot, boxerand In the United States. One of the projects he is considering funding To tell Let me explain the current situation in detail.

The script is “almost ready” I’m a Man: The True Story of Chief Standing Bear…A depiction of the Ponca people’s Trail of Tears march that led to the 1879 Standing Bear v. United States trial. Sheridan co-wrote the screenplay with Bert Daly and Andrew Troy. Troy, a member of the Chiricahua Apaches, has secured some funding from the Nebraska Legislature, but raising additional funding has proven difficult.

“Right now, we don’t have any Native American lead roles that are bankable for movies,” Sheridan said. “But I don’t think there’s anyone else in this day and age who can finance movies other than Tom Cruise. We’re proactive with people.”

In other words, woke Hollywood won’t fund movies starring Native American actors. Because there are no profitable indigenous actors.

So why aren’t there any Native American actors making money? Well, it’s because the left-wing entertainment world refuses to give Native Americans a chance to become stars. It’s not the fault of the movie-loving public, who have created huge stars out of countless minorities. But the left-wing entertainment industry won’t fund projects that might make Native Americans stars.

What about for racists?

Anyone who knows the story of Standing Bear vs. Brigadier General George Crook knows it would make a great movie. Is it better to do so? do not have Would it be better to make a movie than, say, have a three-time Oscar winner like Daniel Day-Lewis play Standing Bear? Oh, no, you can’t do that. It’s better that important stories about Native Americans never be told than to have white men play Native Americans.

Everything is so stupid. Day-Lewis is right to live 100 miles away. All he can do by not retiring is risk becoming lazy with an entire great artistic legacy. Even the great directors he’s worked with in the past, including Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, aren’t what they used to be.will do Fabelmans and Murderers of the Flower Moon Convince someone to withdraw their retirement?
