Cornyn says he’d back term limits for GOP leaders

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a candidate for Senate Republican leadership, said Tuesday he plans to propose an amendment to conference rules that would place term limits for party leaders.

“One of the reasons I’m running to be the next Republican leader is because I believe the Senate needs more involvement from all of my colleagues, including the opportunity for every member to serve in a leadership role,” Cornyn said. “It will be done,” he said.
