Oklahoma City Thunder center Bismack Biyombo had a scary moment Wednesday night.
The 31-year-old was congratulating his teammates on the sideline during a first-half timeout of the Thunders’ road game against the Portland Trail Blazers when he appeared to fall backwards and collapse.
Fortunately, Biyombo was quickly treated by Blazers medical staff and quickly regained consciousness and was able to walk off the court on his own.
The team had brought a wheelchair, but it was not used, according to the Associated Press.
The 14-year veteran was diagnosed with no serious illness by Blazers doctors, according to side reporter Nick Gallo of Bally Sports in Oklahoma.
Gallo also reported that the Thunder will retain Biyombo for the remainder of the game out of an abundance of caution for observation and further evaluation on Thursday.
The Thunder, who are competing with the Timberwolves and Nuggets for the top seed in the Western Conference, signed a big man a few weeks ago to add depth to their frontcourt.
He has played in 4 games.
