New York Attorney General Letitia James was booed at a firefighting ceremony Thursday, but was drowned out by a crowd chanting “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
There were boos as James took to the podium to honor the oath of office of the Rev. Pamela Holmes, the FDNY’s first African-American female chaplain, and other first responders.
“Hey, this is God’s house. Calm down,” James told the rowdy crowd. “Thank you for getting it out of my system.”

James paused to pay tribute to first responders, but some in the crowd continued to boo.
The crowd began chanting “Trump!” repeatedly. Later in his speech, James said he also prayed for the firefighters who were booed in the audience.

Chief John Hodgens later admonished the firefighters for their violent behavior.
“Today’s ceremony was to recognize the accomplishments of the members being promoted,” he said. “The actions of our members in distracting from that celebration are shameful and unbecoming of the world’s greatest fire department.”
